HELMET REPEAL

The first big issue when you start talking about helmet repeal is freedom of choice, and arguably most important. We the people have had our freedoms eroded away by a liberal government to the point the constitution has been raped. Everyday Big Brother whittles away at the rights a group of guys back in the 1700's gave their fortunes and lives for to see we had a better life. Are we going to let them die in vain? At present rate it looks as tho we have but its not too late to start taking back what was and is ours.

The next issue of being forced to wear a helmet is the constrictions it places upon us. Yea they're damn nice as a head warmer in winter but other than that they restrict your vision and hearing. The two most important senses in staying alive on the road. The shear weight on your neck and shoulders will eventually wear you down to the point, that you're distracted by it rather than paying attention to whats going on around you.

Another issue is the fact your helmet is more apt to break your neck than save your brain. A motorcyclist who weighs 160 lbs. can survive being hit on the body with a certain amount of energy. The average human head weighs 9 lbs. add to that a 4 lb helmet and his neck must now support 13 lbs. Now the weight has increased by 44% only 69% of the movement can be sustained by the neck. Another problem is the strap which will support over 1000 lbs. The NHTSA admits the neck in accident conditions can support 700 lbs. at best and remember this is at best probably high. Does anyone remember the Pa. boy who fell through the boards on a playgrounds jungle gym while wearing his bicycle helmet and it broke his neck?

While on the subject of the NHTSA take a minute to go look at this particular part of their site:
http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/testing/comply/fmvss218/98s218.html
it has their own test results for a variety of helmets. That are perfectly legal DOT sticker and all, some very expensive that fail their own tests. So pro helmet advocates are buying good legal helmets that some are really no better than a $50 beanie. Trust in your government to take care of you, I THINK NOT.

Finally to those who think PAC's are the answer, in Pa.'s last repeal vote the PAC's bribed bought and paid for two Eastern Pa. Senators and they turncoated on us anyway. The latest year numbers are available for are 1997, the American Medical Assn. spent $17.28 million dollars on lobbying the next closest was Phillip Morris which spent $15.8 million. How can we begin to match those numbers? If for one minute you think PAC's are the answer, I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale.

More Inaccuracies be the Media

This story hits close to home for me, as John ( JD as we call him) and Linda are good friends of mine. Paragraph 1, “as she slept with another man”, the relationship between Pardus and Linda had been over for quite some time. The Trib try’s to slant public opinion because Pardus was a cop and Linda’s an ordinary citizen and a biker.

Paragraph 5 “after she broke off a sexual relationship with Pardus”, don’t most normal 4 year relationships involve sex? The Trib is trying to paint Linda as a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, nothing could be further from the truth. JD and Linda are one of our own, Linda grew up in a motorcycle riding family and JD’s been riding for many years also. When I needed someone to help with a chili cook-off to raise money for the local SPCA they were right there for me. The Trib knew they were bikers and without stating this they put out another slanted view of bikers.

Paragraph 10 “Pospisil had minor injury’s and Ames was grazed”. Well if you think having a bullet go through your neck and another lodge in your calf (which is still there) or in JD’s case, your finger blown off and a bullet in the leg are minor injury’s. This reporter could not have looked at the court records because these are not the facts.

These are just a few of the inaccuracy’s in this article of biker vs. cop. In this case the bikers are good people and the ex-cop as Judge McCormick stated “with all the trouble you’ve had Pardus we should have seen this coming”. E-Mail your thoughts to the Trib and let them know what you think.

Issues for the New Millennium

As motorcyclists we face many issues, helmets, turnpike tolls,
tar & chip roads, covered loads etc. The issue we are missing is unity amongst ourselves. Whether you're a RUB, Yuppie, Newbie or an old biker, we need to put the titles behind us and come together collectively. If you choose to ride a Harley, Honda or a Rocket we need to unify our efforts.

Did you ever stop to think if properly educated these rocket kids could be put under our wings and taught that maybe a little discretion will keep them alive longer. Just maybe instead of getting away from bikes when the family comes along someday, they'll be the guys or gals on Harleys. I know the reason most of us do this is that we are rebels, but if we don't come together in some way this country will not get any better. We all have one thing in common our bikes. Now we must expand on that and lead the way to get this country back on track. Bikers, Libertarians and true Conservatives
must band together to get the Liberals out of office. There's always a trade off for something the government GIVES you and it ain't worth it.

Issues don't always have to pertain to motorcycles, as citizens we
will face many others. Take gun control how do you think Hitler took over Germany? It was gun registration. He knew exactly where to get the guns from the citizens. Could that be what Bubba has in store for us? I don't want to find out.

Just for the record, the reason I spend so much of my time on this
is not for my personal gain or to feed my ego. I have a ten year old son and I'm bound and determined to leave him a better world than was left to me.

You can rule or be ruled. I think our founding fathers envisioned
the citizens as the rulers and politicians the ruled, not the way our
country has become. Question your government, question your leaders, question everything and LEARN.
